Through access to up-cycled materials and artisanal mentorship, program participants or “apprentices” of all ages will practice sustainability by effectively learning how to sew, including how to maintain and repair garments. They will refine their craftsmanship through hands-on skill-building. The program will allow them to engage in innovative product creation that impacts their local community, while building hope within themselves and others they interact with in the community. Sewing is also intergenerational. Peer to peer learning creates a spirit of empowerment and lifelong learning across generations.
